Hiring a B-Corp agency means working with a business that has been independently verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency — and has legally committed to considering the impact of its decisions on workers, community and environment, not just profit. That's the formal answer. Here's what it means in practice for your project.
What is a B-Corp, exactly?
B Corp certification is awarded by the non-profit B Lab after a rigorous assessment covering governance, workers, community, environment and customers. It isn't a badge you buy or a pledge you sign; it's an audit you pass, and re-pass at recertification. Altitude was among the first businesses in Plymouth to achieve it — something we're quietly proud of.
What does working with a B-Corp agency mean for your project?
Honest advice over billable hours. The accountability structure changes incentives. We've talked clients out of expensive rebuilds they didn't need, because the certification we hold — and the reputation behind it — is worth more than any single invoice.
A team that's looked after. Verified working standards mean the people on your project aren't burning out — which shows up in the quality and consistency of the work.
Sustainability handled properly. From efficient, fast-loading builds (good for the planet and your conversion rate) to our published environmental policy, the boring details are done.
Values alignment you can verify. For charities and purpose-driven hospitality brands, "our agency shares our values" stops being a hope and becomes a checkable fact.
What is the Good Business Fund?
Certification sets a floor, not a ceiling — so we built something on top of it. The Good Business Fund, our collaboration with Just Enough Brave, offers up to £15,000 of free creative and digital consultancy time each year to charities, social enterprises and businesses with a clear environmental or social purpose. Now in its third year, it's our answer to a simple question: what would it look like if an agency's giving was structured, annual and real, rather than an occasional discount when times were good?
Does a B-Corp agency cost more?
No — our pricing is set by the work, and it's competitive with any comparable specialist agency (we publish honest ranges, like our hotel website cost guide). What changes isn't the price; it's what travels with it: verified standards, and a slice of our time flowing to organisations doing good.
Who should choose a B-Corp agency?
If you're a charity whose funders scrutinise your supply chain, a hotel building a genuine sustainability story, or any organisation that wants its money to land somewhere aligned with its values — the certification does real work for you. If none of that matters to you, we'd still argue the incentive structure produces better advice. But then, we would say that. The point of B-Corp is that you don't have to take our word for it.
Talk to us about your project — or, if you're a purpose-driven organisation, keep an eye on the Good Business Fund when applications open in December.
