Altitude shortlisted for National Positive Impact Award following £45K’s worth of charity support

Plymouth agencies Altitude Design and Just Enough Brave have been shortlisted for the Positive Impact Award at the SME National Business Awards 2026, recognising the success of their Good Business Fund, a pioneering initiative that has already delivered more than £45,000 of pro bono strategic and creative support to charities and social enterprises.

The national recognition celebrates organisations making a measurable difference to their communities, and the shortlist reflects the agencies' belief that creative communications should be a force for social good as well as commercial success.

Launched in 2024, the Good Business Fund was established to give charities access to the strategic marketing, branding and communications expertise they often cannot afford but desperately need. Every year, Just Enough Brave and Altitude Design commit £15,000 worth of professional support, helping organisations strengthen their brands, increase awareness and generate greater long-term impact.

The results have been significant.

One of the Fund's first beneficiaries was Plymouth social enterprise Memory Matters, which supports people living with dementia and their families. Working alongside the charity, the agencies delivered a complete brand refresh, transformed its Moments Café environment and developed a new website.

Within six months, café footfall had increased by 21%, despite challenging trading conditions during Plymouth's city centre redevelopment. Profits also grew by 7%, with every additional pound reinvested into dementia support services, helping more local families access vital advice and care.

In 2025, the Fund partnered with Plymouth homelessness charity Path Housing, delivering market research, a new visual identity and a redesigned website. The impact was immediate, with the charity's Winter Appeal raising 257% more than before and achieving its most successful fundraising campaign to date. The additional income has gone directly towards supporting people experiencing homelessness across the city.

The Fund's reach has also extended beyond the South West, supporting national charities including Sal's Shoes and Sea-Changers with strategic communications designed to improve visibility, strengthen fundraising and unlock future opportunities.

Demand for the initiative continues to grow rapidly. During 2026, the Good Business Fund received 251 applications from charities across the UK, representing a 151% increase on the previous year and underlining the growing demand for high-quality communications support within the voluntary sector.

Dave Smith and Miles Noble from Brave and Altitude, said:

"Being shortlisted for a national Positive Impact Award is a huge honour because it recognises something that's fundamental to who we are as agencies. We believe creative expertise shouldn't only be available to organisations with big budgets. When charities have stronger brands they're able to raise more money, reach more people and create even greater impact in their communities."

They added:

"The Good Business Fund has shown what's possible when agencies invest their skills where they're needed most. Seeing organisations like Memory Matters and Path Housing achieve measurable growth, and knowing that translates directly into better support for vulnerable people, is incredibly rewarding. This recognition belongs to every charity we've had the privilege to work alongside."

The winners of the SME National Business Awards 2026 will be announced in in a glitzy ceremony in London later this year.
