Your Christmas appeal page should be live by mid-November at the latest — which means building it now. Charity donations cluster heavily in December, with the days around Giving Tuesday (1 December 2026) and the final week of the year carrying an outsized share of annual giving. The charities that capture it aren't the ones with the biggest budgets; they're the ones whose appeal infrastructure was ready before the rush.
When should a charity launch its Christmas appeal?
Work backwards from the money. Giving Tuesday opens the season; the 27th–31st December brings the year-end surge (tax-motivated and reflective givers alike). To be ready, your appeal page should launch mid-November, your email sequence should be scheduled before December starts, and your social assets should be in the folder — not in someone's head — by the end of this month.
What makes a Christmas appeal page convert?
One story, told properly. A single person or family whose Christmas your donors can change beats statistics about national need. Specific is moving; general is wallpaper.
Seasonal, outcome-anchored amounts. "£15 provides Christmas dinner for a family of four" — the same anchoring principle from our donation page guide, wearing a scarf.
A visible goal. A progress bar or target creates momentum and urgency without dark patterns. Update it manually if you must, but keep it moving.
Mobile-first, minimal friction. December donors are giving from the sofa, in the ad break, on the bus. Apple Pay and Google Pay, minimum form fields, done in ninety seconds.
Gift Aid up front. It's a 25% uplift on every eligible donation. Make the tick-box prominent and pre-explain it in one line.
What Christmas appeal infrastructure works beyond the page?
The appeal page is the destination; the season is the journey. Line up: an email sequence (launch, Giving Tuesday, mid-December story update, year-end urgency), social content sized for each platform, a homepage takeover or banner so warm traffic finds the appeal, and a thank-you flow that converts one-off Christmas donors into January regulars — the highest-value conversion of the season, and the one nearly everyone forgets.
Does dedicated fundraising infrastructure pay for itself?
In our experience, quickly. For Young Devon, the integrated donation platform we built catalysed £25,000 of giving within its first few months, and their Raisely-powered campaign sister site, Run Devon, has raised tens of thousands more. Purpose-built beats improvised, especially in the weeks when every hour of your team's time is spoken for.
What if it's already late?
Then simplify: one page, one story, one ask, launched fast — rather than the elaborate campaign microsite that goes live on the 19th of December. A modest appeal that runs the whole season outperforms a perfect one that misses it.
