Woodland Trust
Restoring rare temperate rainforest in the South West
Rainforest Recovery is a conservation initiative focused on protecting, restoring and expanding the unique temperate rainforest habitat found in the south west of England. These rare woodlands have been reduced to tiny fragments through centuries of land use change, invasive species and climate pressures, and the project works to rejuvenate these ecosystems for nature and people.
The organisation brings together volunteers, landowners and partners to care for existing rainforest remnants, create new habitat and build awareness of this precious environment. Activities include habitat management, species support and public events that help communities learn about the value of rainforest landscapes on Devon and Cornwall’s Atlantic fringe.
Altitude created a website that clearly explains the importance of temperate rainforest, presents the work being done on restoration sites and outlines ways people can take part, donate or volunteer to support recovery efforts. The new platform strengthens Rainforest Recovery’s digital presence and helps inspire more people to get involved in safeguarding these rare ecosystems.
