This month, internet powerhouse Google has decided to make your browsing experience a whole lot better.

Web on the move is an increasingly vital aspect to everyday life, with mobile and tablet technology quickly overtaking the desktop experience. Google has recognised this and is making it easier for users to find websites relevant to their Google search that can be viewed seamlessly on any device. This means that the days of pop-up boxes asking you to ‘view desktop version’ or ‘go to mobile site’ will soon be long gone.

Google is favouring responsive design and will prioritise these sites in their rankings. Responsive design is an approach to web design which creates a layout that is easy to view on different devices. This means you can view a website on a small screen without having to zoom in or resize.

So, what does this mean for your business and more importantly, your website?

From 21st April 2015, Google’s search algorithms (search rules) changed so that websites that respond to all screen sizes will be prioritised in a Google search. If your website has not been made responsive, your site will drop in the search rankings.

Less website hits = less business.
